P!D is a registered non-profit design, planning and educational organisation that helps neighbourhoods and public institutions in Singapore design community-owned spaces and solutions.

P!D is dedicated to engaging and enabling people in shaping their everyday environments and local communities. Founded on the firm belief that everyone has the right to participate in and influence the design and planning processes that affect them, P!D provides services in designing and facilitating the public participation and engagement process concerning the built environment.

Larry Yeung

Executive Director aka “Our Chief of the office”
Larry is a designer and community organiser who is a strong advocate for a participatory and community-centric approach in the design and planning of cities and neighbourhoods.

Since his graduation from the National University of Singapore with an M. Arch, Larry’s portfolio of participatory-based works has expanded to include neighbourhood planning, public space design, and community art installations; working in partnership with grassroots organisations, educational institutions, civic groups and government agencies. Larry's honour includes being recognised as a World Cities Summit Young Leader in 2021, an award that honours change-makers from diverse sectors who have helped to shape the global urban agenda, as well as a recipient of the BCA-CPG Industrial scholarship award and the URA Urban Design prize in 2014.

Extending from his work at P!D, Larry is also part of CSC-MCCY’s Partnerships and Engagement Experts Panel since November 2022, consulting with public agencies in Singapore on their citizen & stakeholder engagement projects.

 

Lim Mui Ping

Assistant Director aka “Our Sassy Hands-on Super Girl”
Mui Ping is a social designer and illustrator. Having previously practiced user experience, product design and project management in Singapore, she is currently the Assistant Director of Participate in Design (P!D). She have always love drawing and created her own illustration brand - Bleak illustration documenting the hardship of design life. She learns about material properties from her Diploma in User Experience and Product Design in Singapore Polytechnic and have prior knowledge of 3D printing while working in the design industry, after furthering her studies in NAFA 3D Design. Her passion for community design and arts saw her leading several key participatory-based works over the years, working alongside grassroot organisations, public agencies and communities, in co-creating design solutions to improve the lives of people.

 

Lean Qi Hao

Principal Associate (Projects) aka “Our kind critic”
Qi Hao has a strong interest in community design since his days in college. Having been trained in urban planning and geography in the National University of Singapore, as well as project management in the public sector, he is now the Principal Associate (Projects) of Participate in Design, acting as a project manager and community facilitator, working closely with different stakeholders and government agencies to deliver various participatory design centric projects in Singapore.

 

Jocelyn Lim

Senior Associate (Comms & Design) aka “Our best ex-intern”
Jocelyn is a firm believer that the design process is never ending and there is no fixed solution to satisfy everyone needs because everyone has their unique perspective. Through P!D, she strive to design for people, not just for them by applying her facilitation and participatory design skills.

Having been involved with various community-centric projects since her internship days with P!D, Jocelyn now joins us as our Senior Associate (Comms & Design) to continue designing with people and not just for them.

Jocelyn graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Design Communication, Design and Visual Communications in 2020. 

 

Yonathan Ong

Senior Associate (Design) aka “the People Urbanist”
Yonathan is a designer who strongly values Participatory methods in Urban Design. Having previously practiced urban design, architecture, and user experience both internationally and in Singapore, Yonathan is dedicated to bridging the gap between stakeholders and advocating for the community with his multi-disciplinary skillset.

Yonathan leverages data to translate agendas and ground aspirations into impactful solutions within the field of urban placemaking, striving to create purposeful designs that are also well-loved by the community.

 

Wen Shumin

Associate (Comms & Design) aka “Our ‘braid-er’ than you girl”
Shumin advocates the value of purpose through a variety of creative work she has been involved in and believes that design goes beyond aesthetic; it should be process-driven.

She continues to adopt an explorative and experimental approach through various P!D projects, continuing to seek new ways of bridging the gap between design and the community.

Shumin graduated from Glasgow School of Arts with a Bachelor in Communication Design in 2019.
